Our Favorite March 2026 Releases by Female Artists

March has been an incredible month for new music, especially from artists pushing the boundaries of their respective scenes. From the dark, psych-folk of British Columbia to the high-energy alt-pop of New York, these are five records by female artists that have been on our rotation.

Art School Girlfriend – Lean In (Fiction Records)

Polly Mackey evolves her sound into a sophisticated blend of atmospheric electronica and alt-rock textures. It’s a moody, late-night record that perfectly balances shoegaze-inspired synths with a steady, driving pulse.

Grace Ives – Girlfriend (True Panther/Capitol)

Moving from her lo-fi roots into high-fidelity alt-pop, Grace Ives delivers a sharp, rhythmic album centered on recovery and growth. The production is maximalist and catchy, filled with 90s-tinged hooks and honest songwriting.

Avalon Emerson & the Charm – Written into Changes (Dead Oceans)

The renowned DJ leans further into her dream-pop project, trading club beats for lush, organic instrumentation. It is a groove-heavy indie-electronic record that feels like a vulnerable travelogue of transition and change.

Chelsea Hodson – Philosophy (Rose Books)

A captivating bridge between spoken-word art and experimental soundscapes, released through Hodson’s own literary press. This avant-garde project uses surgical, atmospheric storytelling to explore the discipline and desire of the working artist.

Ora Cogan – Hard Hearted Woman (Sacred Bones)

Cogan’s debut for the label is a haunting mix of psych-folk, gothic country, and noir-rock. Recorded in rural British Columbia, the album feels elemental and raw, shifting between delicate acoustic moments and heavy, shimmering fog.
